Some friendships arrive quietly and settle in forever. Alan and Catherine Kaulback are that kind of friends β and no story of Queenslake B&B would be complete without them.
From January 2003 through December 2018, Alan and Catherine poured their hearts into the Dream Horse Guesthouse β a family, pet, and horse-friendly Bed & Breakfast nestled in Kinsman, Ohio. For fifteen years, they welcomed thousands of guests, earned stacks of signed reviews, and were celebrated in newspaper articles across the region. They didn't just run a B&B; they built a community around warmth, horses, and genuine hospitality. When they finally retired, they carried all of that wisdom with them.
When they first walked through the doors of Queenslake, something remarkable happened: they felt it all again. The warmth of a farmhouse kitchen, the quiet of a countryside morning, the particular joy of a place where people are genuinely cared for. Two innkeepers' hearts recognizing each other across a porch railing. They vowed to return as often as possible β and they have kept that promise beautifully.
They left a piece of themselves here β literally. Several of the beautiful comforters that now grace our guest rooms once belonged to the Dream Horse Guesthouse, carried here as a gift and a blessing from one innkeeper's heart to another. When you pull one of those comforters close on a cool Kentucky evening, you are wrapped in over fifteen years of Ohio hospitality and love.
In 2024, Alan and Catherine made Georgetown their home β and Queenslake became their second one. They are here often, and the farm is always better for it. John, Claire, and the whole Queenslake family are honored to call them not just guests, but dear friends, trusted mentors, and the finest example of what it means to open your door with a full heart. The door here is always open for them. It always will be.
βThey taught us, without ever meaning to, that the finest thing a place can offer is the feeling that you belong there.β
